A powerhouse of technology and innovation, the ViO80-1 offers the performance of a large excavator along with the benefits of a compact excavator. Particularly suited for work in urban areas, it can operate with confidence and efficiency along walls and in confined spaces where other machines in its weight class cannot go, yet still provides all-day comfort for operators. The ViO80-1 is a true zero tail swing midi excavator, with neither the counterweight nor the front part of the upper frame projecting beyond the track width. Even in confined spaces it delivers a smooth swing and can operate efficiently along walls, its rear-swing radius measuring just 1,135 mm. With the rear blind spot reduced to a minimum and an array of safety features, it ensures that both the operator and other on-site workers can do their job without worrying about their safety.
The breakout forces of 63.5 kN (bucket) and 40.8 kN (arm) are exceptional for an eight-ton excavator with zero tail swing. With a digging depth of 4,130 mm (or 3,780 mm for vertical walls) and excellent traction force, they allow the ViO80-1 to carry out major tasks. These include excavation and clearing operations for large areas, or laying pipes. A wide range of optional equipment for further increasing performance and versatility includes steel crawlers and an additional 400 kg counterweight.
The ViO80-1 is equipped with the exclusive VICTAS® system. The strength of this lies in the increase of the support surface and increase in tracking through the use of asymmetric crawlers. Developed by Yanmar, this system reduces track degradation, makes displacements quieter and reduces vibration. Associated with the use of a large counterweight and excellent weight distribution, it provides the same or even higher stability than conventional machines in the same weight class, as well as remarkable lifting capacities.
The interior is both spacious and welcoming, designed to deliver more productivity and less fatigue. Particular care has been paid to operator comfort, and the air-suspended seat with headrest offers exceptional comfort for a machine of this class. There are adjustable wrist supports, while the wide travel pedals and hydraulic control levers are fluid and easy to use. In addition, the control levers offer exceptional movement precision, a real boon over long days on challenging work sites.
The ViO80-1 delivers net power of 39.3 kW at 1,900 rpm, yet even with this kind of performance, we also ensure that the environment and fuel economy are priorities. That’s down to features such as cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), which greatly reduces nitrogen oxides, plus a diesel particulate filter (DPF) for cleaning up exhaust emissions. We have also developed an exclusive regeneration system in order to prevent clogging and cleaning down-time.
An electronic control unit manages the rpm according to the torque, optimising the engine load. This also saves fuel while increasing the productivity of the machines. An auto-deceleration system is standard equipment, and switches the engine to idle if the operator doesn’t touch the operating levers for four seconds. Also standard is an eco-mode feature, which effectively controls the engine speed and ensures ultra-low fuel consumption and lower operating costs. It’s particularly effective in low-power and low-speed-of-movement situations.
The ViO80-1 features a new-generation ViPPS hydraulic system. This particular configuration uses one double, variable displacement, piston pump alongside two gear pumps. These three main pumps deliver a maximum flow of 193.8 l/min, available for main machine operating movements. Flows are cumulated in the main control valves to obtain the optimal combination of speed, power, smoothness and balance. This allows for seamless and simultaneous performance, even while travelling.
Standard equipment on the ViO80-1 includes two auxiliary hydraulic lines, with proportional control and fine adjustment via joystick. This proportional approach adapts the hydraulic flow of oil to the use and needs of each attachment and give the operator perfect control of attachments at all times.
The machine also has an automatic second speed for long displacements. A power switch keeps it in first gear for challenging operations such as counter-rotation or ascending slopes.
